07. User Experience Design: Spout!

The Brief

This project required the expansion of our brand and visual identity created on the Center for Language Learning, into a UX/UI digital platform. The project could either be a self-initiated, language-related app/website or an app/website focused specifically on the Centre for Language Learning. The project could differ from, but had to complement the previously developed brand. The project scope required the core function of the platform to be shown in a single-user journey. An emphasis was placed on the overall design process of user testing, journey mapping, design systems, wireframing and prototyping.

Project Deliverables

- User-flow journey
- UI style guide
    - Base guidelines: (typography, colours, grid system, padding & spacing rules, iconography)
-Interactive components: (buttons, menus, modals, card designs, switches/ toggles, text inputs, radio buttons etc)
- Wireframes
- Vertical narrative
- Process work

Design Strategy

For this project, I intended to create a language learning app based off the Centre For Language Learning branding I did, but the brand colour scheme and style did not transfer well over into a mobile app, so I decided to re-colourise and rebrand the logo into Spout! This mobile app still retains the fun and uplifting theme from the CLL brand, but it is a lot more simplified, as to easily understand the learning process of this app.

I approached the app with the intention of my user persona learning French, and was inspired by existing language apps. However, I wanted it to be more than just basic language learning, so I implemented language games and podcasts into the app design as well.
